Kobe Bryant 2009 Finals: 17pts In 1st Qtr, Gm 3 vs. Orlando Magic
Переглядів 2 тис.7 років тому
Kobe starts off Game 3 choosing to set up his teammates instead of forcing the issue. He doesn't attempt his first shot until the 5:43 mark and for the rest of the quarter he would toy with Orlando's defense. His scoring arsenal was on full display as he scored 17 of the Lakers' last 19 points going 7/10 from the field and 2/2 from 3-point range. The highlights from the rest of this game weren'...

Shaquille O'Neal 2004 Playoffs: 27pts & 18rebs, Gm 1 vs. T'Wolves
Переглядів 2,8 тис.7 років тому
MINNEAPOLIS (AP) With five days off between playoff games, Shaquille O'Neal had time to relax, get rejuvenated and even read up on free-throw shooting. That extra study time made a big difference against the weary Timberwolves in the opener of the Western Conference finals. O'Neal had 27 points, 18 rebounds and a superb performance at the free-throw line, and Kobe Bryant added 23 points in the ...

Kobe Bryant Takes A Shot At LeBron James After His Final Game
Переглядів 75 тис.8 років тому
When LeBron James joined the Miami Heat in 2010 many basketball fans were disappointed because he teamed up with a Top 3 player in Dwyane Wade and all-star Chris Bosh. In the eyes of many basketball fans it showed that the reigning MVP didn't have enough confidence in himself to win a championship as the undisputed leader of a team and felt he needed more help than was necessary. The move was a...

1985 NBA Finals, Gm 4: Larry Bird Dominates The 4th Quarter
Переглядів 675 тис.9 років тому
Facing a possible 3-1 hole, Bird takes over the final period of game 4. He would lead Boston to a close win by scoring 12 of his 26 points in the 4th quarter, making clutch defensive plays and even assisting on DJ's game winning shot.
Magic Johnson 1990: Triple-Double, Final Game vs. Isiah's Pistons
Переглядів 12 тис.10 років тому
With the new look Lakers on a 6-game winning streak, their recent success would be tested by the defending champion Bad Boy Pistons. Although some key players were no longer around, the bad blood between these two teams was still there. Magic Johnson couldn't wait to face his old friend Isiah Thomas and it showed with his performance. While his soon to be estranged friend struggled after the fi...

After being swept the previous year by the San Antonio Spurs, Shaq and the Lakers were facing an uncertain future. With the hiring of Phil Jackson (who brought experience and used Tex Winters' Triangle Offense) the signing of a few veterans and the growth of future superstar Kobe Bryant, the Lakers were able to win 67 games in the regular season. Shaq's commitment to staying in shape and playin...
1999 WCSF, Gm 4: Shaq vs. Duncan
Переглядів 131 тис.10 років тому
Heading into the playoffs the San Antonio Spurs were prohibitive favorites to win it all. They had the experience, the chemistry, defense and a young Tim Duncan in his second season that would be the heir apparent to an aging David Robinson. After defeating the Timberwolves in four games, San Antonio's next opponent would be the young L.A. Lakers who were led by Shaquille O'Neal. A charismatic ...
Magic Johnson: NBA Finals Highlights (1980-88)

The title is a bit misleading because I didn't include any highlights from the '83 and '84 Finals since the Lakers were defeated both times. Instead I chose to focuse on just the championship seasons. This is a video that I've wanted to make for a while now because I felt Magic wasn't getting enough recognition on UA-cam. It was also something I wanted to do for younger fans like myself who nev...
2000: Duncan vs. Garnett
Переглядів 865 тис.11 років тому
For the most part Tim Duncan is widely considered to be the best power forward ever. It's hard to argue against what he's done resume wise but if you were to make a case for someone taking his spot, Kevin Garnett would be your man. From a statistical standpoint they're very close despite playing two different styles. Many have argued that if KG had been drafted by the Spurs, he would've done ju...

Magic displaying his all-around excellence against the Golden State Warriors. Although he didn't shoot the ball particularly well in these games, Magic still contributed by getting his teammates involved and dominating the boards. This series marked the fourth time that he averaged a triple-double for an entire playoff series (most all-time) in his career. He's one of only five players (Oscar, ...

I remember getting Sport magazine with Walton on the cover as he led Portland toward the championship. I can still picture the cover in my head. It’s a shame that he never was able to have a full career because of the injuries, but when he was in his prime and able to play, he was the most complete big man I ever saw.

The night of my 8th grade dance :) I was already a wise beyond my Celtics years in fandom and I never really thought we had a chance in 87. After Bias and all the damn injuries and a grueling playoff path I was not very confident going into these Finals. But on that night of my 8th grade dance my buddy brought in a TV radio thing that barely worked. But as the dance continued and I slow danced with my date to "Heaven" by Bryan Adams the Celtics lead had swelled to 15 and at this moment I started believing we actually did have a chance ! But as the night went at the snack table the lead was down to 6. When I got in my parents mini van it was tied. The glow of the dance was fading - but when I got home after 5 minutes with Most and Ordway on the radio the lead went back to 6. But soon again it vanished ! Then came the absolute dagger of a 3 by Larry - the ball bounces the Lakers way and then Magic just does what Magic does ! What a shot ! Bird still almost pulled it out by that was the series and the last night of my middle school existence

People can argue who is the greatest PF of all time. But at his height Barkley is one of a kind. A "short" guys in the land of the giants (in his position) and his time was when great centers are around. He rebounded not only against PFs abut also Centers.

I have always thought that Bill Walton was a top five center all time. His defense was top tier. He could score on anyone. Completely unselfish and a great passer. So I look t him the way I looked at Gale Sayers, great player that got hurt and although he was limited because of his injuries, he was still one of the greatest.
